Art Therapist & Art Hive Facilitator

 

Kate is a compassionate, supportive, and empathetic trauma informed psychotherapist and creative arts therapist. She is also an artist, art hive facilitator, and believes in our inherent creative abilities.

Kate combines her psychodynamic training and humanistic/holistic approach to connect, collaborate, and empower together.  She draws from her 12+ years of providing individual and group art therapy in institutional and community settings. Kate works collaboratively with her clients, using a range of modalities and creative practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, somatic informed therapy, eco art therapy and creative journaling, and is currently learning new skills in Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Kate has her MA in Creative Arts Therapy from Concordia University in Montreal Quebec. While in Montreal, she connected with the Art Hive movement and became a facilitator in art hives in Montreal and now in the US. Art hives are free community art studios open to all. Art hives help build connection and community through making together. She is passionate about social justice and draws from her experience facilitating in art hives, empowering communities and welcoming all, in her work with individuals.
